Cabinet discusses MoU between India and Palestine based on cooperation in the field of information technology and electronics

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet was informed about the Memorandum of Understanding between India and Palestine on cooperation in the field of Information Technology and Electronics.

 The aim of this MoU is to promote close cooperation in the areas of e-governance, m-governance, e-public service delivery, cyber security, software technology park, start-up ecosystem etc.

 This Memorandum of Understanding will be effective from the date of signing of both the parties and will remain effective for a period of 5 years. This MOU will be implemented by establishing a work group based on information technology and electronics made of representatives of both parties. Bilateral cooperation in both areas of Information Communication Technology- B2B and G2G will be enhanced. Its goal is to improve B2B cooperation in enhancing job opportunities.

Background:

India's strong political support is being given to the interests of Palestine on international and bilateral levels. Materials and technical support from India for the people of Palestine is given. The agreement on cooperation in the field of information technology and electronics was initiated in November 2016 during the first session of the JCM. After the draft of several negotiations, the Memorandum of Understanding was finalized and in May 2017 it was signed on the occasion of the visit of a very important person of Palestine.
